Importance of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is an acronym that stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of optimizing web pages and their content to be easily discovered by users searching for terms relevant to your website.

SEO also involves making certain changes to your website design and content that make your site more attractive to a search engine as such it is the process of making web pages easier for search engine indexing software, usually known as “CRAWLERS, to find, scan, and index your site.

The search engine will scan the site to determine how easy it is to navigate and read website content, rewarding user-friendly sites with high rankings on the search engine results page.

Optimise your blog post so that it will show up as a top result for anyone who searches for related keyword or phrase in order to get your content in front of the right people.

Optimizing your website for search engines will give you an advantage over non-optimized sites and will increase your chances to rank higher.

Google is the biggest and most used search engine so far therefore when it crawls the sites across the internet and once content across the internet is crawled by the search engine, it results in an index. The index is then put into an “Algorithm” the algorithm is very competitive due to the amount of creators or websites being indexed. An algorithm is a set if rules designed to solves problem in a finite number of steps.

Search engines wants to provide the best service for their users thereby delivering results on the search engine pages that are relevant to what the searcher is looking for.

SEO helps you to drive more relevant traffic, leads and sales for your business due to the millions of searches that are conducted online on daily basis resulting to immense amount of specific high traffic for your business.

Many people search for specific products and services with the intent to pay for these things. These searches are known to have commercial intent, meaning they are clearly indicating with their search that they want to buy something you offer.

Lot’s of people are searching for all manner of things directly related to your business beyond that, your prospect are also searching for all kinds of things that are only related to your business. These gives you more opportunity to connect with those folks and help answer their questions, solve their problems and become a trusted resource and go-to person for them where they can always run to when need be.

How does Google determine which pages to return in response to what people search for?

How do you get all of this valuable traffic to your site?

The answer is very simple. Although Google’s algorithm is extremely complex however Google is looking for pages that contain high-quality information relevant to the searcher’s query. Google’s algorithm determines relevance by “crawling” or reading your website’s content and evaluating ( algorithmically) whether that content is relevant to what the searchers is looking for, based on the keywords it contain and other factors known as (“ranking signals “).

Google determines” quality ” by a number of means, but a site’s link profile- the number and quality of other websites that link to a page and site as a whole is among the most important.

How people engage with a site (Do they find the information they need and remain on the site, or do they “bounce” back to the search page and click on another link? Or do they just ignore your listing in search result altogether and never clicks through?) A site’s loading speed and “mobile friendliness”. How much unique content a site has (versus ” thin” or duplicated, low value content)

There are hundred’s of ranking factor’s that Google’s algorithm considers in response to searches, and Google is constantly updating and refining its process to ensure that it delivers the best possible user experience.

Remember that search engines don’t read a page like human so they are looking out for signals to figure out what your page is all about. It is at this stage that you will deal with website structure, SEO keywords, title optimizations, heading, internal links, image SEO, structured data markup and other techniques that can send the right signals to search engines.

Pages that are good candidate appear to be the first positions of the search results.

One of the major factors that determine the position of a webpage in the result of search engines is the number of incoming links (back links). Backlinks are signal of trust and depending on where the links are coming from, they can greatly affect your ranking position.

Ensure your primary focus should be how to create good and quality content not just how to get links because good content will get you natural links which in turn will give you high rankings and traffic.

Always remember that the best way to learn how SEO works is to practice SEO by applying the various SEO techniques on a website and monitor the rankings. If your ranking and organic traffic are increasing, it simply means that you are in the right direction.
